Writing

Writing Activity: The Best Part of Me (Part 2) – Remember the poem you wrote about the best part of you? Well, if you don’t then your memory is worse than mine – And that is a MAJOR problem… This time, you are going to choose your favorite animal and write another Best Part of Me poem from the point of view of the animal. Yes, you read that correctly – Pretend YOU are the animal talking about your best part.

1. Choose what animal you would like to be. Think about all of the different parts they have, and decide which part you like best. If you need some extra ideas, try reading a bit about your animal or looking up some videos to learn more (*This is not required).

2. Pick your favorite part and write a poem. Click on the link below (The Best Part of Me – Part 2) to read some examples. You may use last week’s poem to help if you are stuck, but try challenging yourself to come up with something original.

The Best Part of Me – Part 2

3. Last, type your poem using a Word Document. Click on the link below (U4W5 The Best Part of Me Writing) to bring up a page that is already set up. If you are unable to get the Word Document, feel free to use a different program to type it up or just make a handwritten copy. Reading and Tech

There are no assignments for this week, but here are a few ideas if you are interested.

Grab a Book: Yes – A book! They’re pretty cool. They have pages and words and everything. People actually took the time to, like, write them and stuff! Don’t be afraid. They won’t bite… unless they acidentally close on your hand. Read in a funny voice, try out an accent, pretend you’re angry or ridiculously happy or confused (like me). Read to someone in your family or read to your pet dog, cat, fish, hamster, or gila monster. Read your favorite bedtime story from Kindergarten, a video game manual, a recipe book, or even the instructions for how to operate an alarm clock. The point is, just read! You never know what you’ll learn…

Epic!: Want to unlock an endless supply of reading material? NO?! What’s wrong with you?!?! You obviously haven’t tried Epic! Click on the button below and search the virtual library. I guarantee you’ll find a topic of interest! If you need the class code, be sure to contact me directly and I will forward it to you.

Typing Practice: Of all the skills I learned in high school, I would say typing has been, by far, the MOST useful. The great news is that you can start a lot earlier than I did, and you have fun games to help you practice! Try some of the games on ABCya! to help you on your way to becoming a master typist! Just click on the link and type in “typing” in the search box. Don’t forget the home row – DO NOT HUNT AND PECK!!!

Literature into STEM and Phys. Ed.

Literature and STEM: Click on the button below to take you to Mrs. Womack’s site. The lessons from Mrs. Womack and Mrs. Lichtenwalner await you!
